The Far City Boys have been sharing their God-given talents for playing gospel and bluegrass music with audiences for over 15 years. The band started in 1995, and in 1997 they were invited to compete in the North Carolina Folk Festival band competition at the Asheville Civic Center, where they won first place. In 2000 the band recorded their first album, "Going That Way", which included the song "Best Friend", written by Kevin Street. In 2004 the band released its second project, which included the title track "That Far, Far City", also written by Kevin Street. In 2005 the band collaborated with Son Sound Studios to record the album "A Cross for a Crown", making the album the band's first nationwide release. In 2009, the Far City Boys joined forces with Aaron Ramsey and Lamon Records to release their fourth project, "I Have Been Blessed." The recording, especially its title track, written by Michael Compton, garnered a huge fan response and the project was nominated for Bluegrass Gospel Album of the year at the 2010 Dove Awards. "I Have Been Blessed" has become an inspiration to thousands of listeners by reminding us of the numerous and wonderful things that God has done in each of our lives. For the Far City Boys, there is no greater joy than spreading the good news of Jesus Christ through song. As Mike Riddle of the Primitive Quartet says, "Great singing, great selection of songs, and most of all the sweet Holy Spirit shines through on every song, ESPECIALLY "I have been Blessed", and I am sure whoever hears it will agree" The Far City Boys hope to see you soon.
God Bless~William Sisk

Kevin Street has been playing the guitar seriously since he was 15. During that time he has developed an unbelievable ability to drive the music of the Far City Boys. With a great deal of hard work on his part, and instruction and encouragement from his dad and grand-dad, Kevin has developed into a first class bluegrass/gospel singer and guitar picker. During his musical career, Kevin has made numerous appearances with the Bass Mountain Boys and played for several months with Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike. Along with playing guitar, he contributes lead, baritone, and tenor vocals to the sound of the Far City Boys. Kevin gave his life to the Lord in late 2000 and continues to love every minute of serving the lord. He currently resides in his hometown of Forest City, N.C.
Kevin asks that you always remember Jesus Christ can still move just like he did in the Bible, and whatever you are facing, Jesus Christ is greater. For prayer call 828-244-9563

Mike Street began his musical journey at age 12. When he was only 14, Mike and his Dad began playing with Larry Campbell and the Country Playboys. For 7 years, Mike sang and played bass for the legendary Bass Mountain Boys, and most recently played with the late Charlie Waller and the Country Gentlemen, easily making him the most recognizable member of the Far City Boys. Over the course of his career, Mike has developed his God-given talents to become one of the finest bass pickers and singers in bluegrass and gospel music today. Added to his rock-solid timing is a God-given ability to contibute any vocal part to the band's mix. With his unique sense of humor, and ability to connect with any type of audience, Mike ensures that you will enjoy every show the Far City Boys are a part of. Mike and his wife, Mary, reside in Forest City, N.C.

Barron Rogers' love for bluegrass and gospel music began as a child in the early 1980's when the New Seldom Scene Album and The Country Gentlemen's "Calling My Children Home" could often be heard playing through his parents' cassette player. However, it wasn't until 1998 that he first picked up the mandolin and began his foray into the world of acoustic music. Since then, he has played with several bluegrass/gospel bands around the Western North Carolina area, including Hungry Creek, Ridgewood Drive, Iron Station, Reel Tyme, and Hazel Creek. In August of 2009, Barron joined the Far City Boys on mandolin and has since contributed both bass and lead vocals to the band's sound. Barron resides in Waynesville, N.C. with his wife Elizabeth, and is a teacher at Tuscola High School. He endorses Sim Daley mandolins.

Roger Holland has been playing banjo since he began taking lessons from local picker Dan Padgett at the age of 14. Since then, he has developed into arguably one of the most solid banjo players in bluegrass and gospel music. During the early 1980's, Roger played banjo for a band called Carolina Crossfire. Carolina Crossfire took 2nd place at the prestigious KFC Band Competition, finishing just behind a band very familiar to the bluegrass world; Alison Krauss and Union Station. Roger spent 10 years with the Far City Boys before taking a short break from the road. To the delight of the band, he returned in September of 2010 and hasn't missed a beat since. Along with playing banjo, Roger contributes baritone as well as bass vocals to the harmonies of the Far City Boys.
